IL FOREST

A masked man returns to the town he left years ago. He arrives with a suitcase and the weight of a legend that may never have existed. No one knows why he has come back. No one knows what he is looking for. And yet, ever since his return, everyone seems to be waiting for something.

Perhaps this is how every legend begins. Not with what we know, but with what we choose to imagine. Because when the truth remains incomplete, stories are what fill in the gaps.

The title comes from the Friulian word forest, meaning a stranger or outsider: someone who comes from elsewhere, someone who does not belong to the place they find themselves in. But Il Forest suggests another possibility: that you can become a stranger even when returning home, when everything still feels familiar, yet no longer belongs to you in quite the same way.
